Down the fish market
« on: November 01, 2005, 18:01:51 PM »

When down the fish market i've had a few attempts at getting the guys to whip thier bones out.
Any ideas how to say it. I have tried sign lanuage but ended up with it just being head n tailed and the next time he cut it up in chunks.

how do you say (plus pronainciation)
"Can you fillet the fish please?"

Dipps
(yes i know you can pick a fish and someone in the restruant will cook it for you, but i want to take some home filleted to eat it).

Hi Dippey
Try  "fileto istyorum, lutfen " I don't think it is grammatically or technically correct, but it does seem to work. :)

"fileto istiyorum, lütfen " is correct and you can say " balIgI fileto yapabilir misiniz?" or "balIgI fileto olarak istiyorum " and if he/she does not understand you can add " dilim olmasIn lütfen" (do not slice ).I can send a .wav file for pronounciation if you desire :)

or you can ask them to seperate the bones away. they would understand it better if you emphasise getting rid of the bones.

kilchiini ayirin lutfen (seperate the bone please).

kilchiini istemiyorum ( i do not want the bone).

kilchiini ayirin, dilimlemeyin, uzun iki parcha yapin (separate the bone. slice it, make two long slices).
