Photo Location Question
« on: February 28, 2016, 18:39:19 PM »
Genuine question...

I took a couple of photos of the Alps en route to Dalaman from the plane. A while later I noticed that in the properties it gave a location - when I searched it was indeed a village in the Alps.

But there was no 3G, no wifi at all on the plane How could the phone have known the location?

Ta!

Geo tagging.  You must have had "location" enabled somewhere - your phone tags all pics with lat & long coordinates via the GPS.

Ah right, I assumed that needed wifi or 3G to work on a phone.

It's scary stuff, especially the Android version.  Tracks your movements to such a level I've seen it show me going from one side of the house to the other.

Glad I'm still using semaphore for local calls and carrier pigeon for longer distance.
