Passport Rules for entry into Turkey effective from 1st Jan 2015

The following passage extracted from www.gov.uk

Passport validity:

The Turkish Government has advised that from 1 January 2015, foreigners entering Turkey must carry a passport with at least 60 days validity beyond the expiry date of their visa or residence permit.

Thanks Dave. That would be very confusing (as usual) - say for people who have long term residency but visit the UK for a break towards the end of their passport validity?

Maybe I'm being dense but I don't really see why this should be a problem.
You can apply for a new passport when you have up to nine months left on your existing one and have the time remaining added on. It just means being organised.....

You can apply for a new UK passport at any time. Not just in the last 9 months.

Yeah but there is a maximum 'carry over' of remaining time from the old one.

I don't mean to detract from the actual topic, I have just under a year and a half left on my 10 year passport so thought I would look up the cost after reading this topic, seriously is that the price you pay £60 handling fee and £112 to actual renew the thing I am gobsmacked if that is the correct cost!

Are you on a one of those dodgy sites perhaps Karen? I've never heard of a handling fee for a UK passport and they aren't £112 either

I renewed my UK passport last year, it cost me £72.50 and done on line. I know it costs considerably more if you have to renew abroad

Oh my goodness I guess I was, I just went to Google and clicked on the first thread!
Thank you for the link Keith I shall remember that when it comes to renewing, just goes to show doesn't it if you are not genned up on some things how easily you can be ripped off, and that is being in the UK and not Turkey!
