Have We Met?
« on: November 06, 2013, 08:11:34 AM »
In another topic, ColinT recalled when we first me, and it is a memory rekindled - I had forgotten it and now he mentioned it I recall it clearly. I thought it might make a good topic - recalling how we met (me or other CBF members). I'm sure there are many lost memories to unlock  :)

Novembers are traditionally quiet on CBF (it's nearly always our quietest month) so I thought this might be interesting to see us through a few cold nights (if a bit Facebooky  :) )

We met Scunner in 2005.   He was sitting with his laptop typing away by a swimming pool at the back of a certain Estate Agencv (that will be nameless).

We met Scunner along with Tinx and a few others at the Far British Corner on its opening night I think. Seems a long time ago now.

And penniless!

That conjours up a beautiful dream image of living abroad. I have no recollection of ever doing that :D

Perhaps someone should organise a quiz.

We got on a bus to go on a boat trip with Jerry some years ago to find a very loud group already sitting at the back.

I don’t know if it was the fact that it was about 9:00 and I may, repeat may, have been suffering from the previous nights exertions, but these people seemed inordinately raucous and I started to think that our planned peaceful day on the water was in jeopardy.

I need not have worried though because as soon as we got on the boat we got chatting to the group and were soon enjoying some splendid craic no more so then when one of group, standing on the deck, shouted to one of the snorkelers “If you find a kids buggy down there bring it up” (you had to be there I suppose).

The group were the glorious laffa (sadly missed from these shores), the fabulous Kenny and members of their family. That boat trip remains one of our favourite Calis memories.

It’s a pleasure to say that we are still very, very good friends.

PS Scunner - I don’t think we need to revisit our first disastrous meeting. I much prefer to remember the “where are you, you old git” meeting.
