Turkish government welcomes wealthy foreign property buyers

Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) officials focused on the importance of attracting “foreigners with money” to invest in Turkish real estate, while speaking at a workshop aimed at tackling the issue of selling property to foreign nationals. The issue is a long standing polemic in Turkey with one side raising patriotic concerns, the other economic concerns.

Both Environment and Urban Planning Minister Erdoğan Bayraktar and the AKP’s deputy chair responsible for external affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, drew attention to the economic advantages that could be gained by attracting foreigners who exceed the average income level.

I wonder though if people will want to buy when they can only get residencies of one year at a time after April next year.

The laws on wills and inheritance haven't changed, if you buy a property here without first checking out the legalities, frankly, your a fool.

same here  and from what I have read on the forum a lot of people purchased property without being fully aware of the inheritance law..... fools maybe .....

The term "Fools" is a bit harsh. 

When we moved over here, 6 and a bit years back, we talked to lots of people including legal peeps.  All said the same that British will would be honoured, oh and take out a Turkish will (at a cost of course) just to make sure.  It is only in recent years that the truth of the matter has been known.  We all took the same advice and all made the same mistake.  When you are getting the same information from several sources you tend to think it is correct.  Look at recent debacles regarding visas, SGK, driving licences etc etc.  Are all those people "Fools" too?
