Bring the Boys Back Home?

I simply can't see what is in it for us, that we sacrifice good British men to fight for a rocky lawless piece of crappy land...

They're bringing them home, but not fast enough.

I've never agreed with them being there in the first place.

Of course if we bring them back before completing the mission (along with all the other western troops) you leave a failed state that will be quickly overrun by the Taliban.  Who, apart from committing massive human rights abuses in Stanny, will make the country into a huge training camp and then export the terror to any high street near you that they can.  Get the lads out yes, but ensure that something is left behind that has a chance of surviving.  Of course the British Army has a long history of fighting over forgotten bits of land (in Korea more killed in three years than the total for Iraq and Stanny to date I believe), its what our duly elected members decide - members elected by us.  Some battles are worth it in the end.

The British Army also has a history of losing in Afghanistan and retreating in ignominy - in 1842 when all but one of the 2500 troops and 12000 civilians who tried to escape were killed in the rout. This time we will lose fewer troops, but I doubt the outcome will be any more beneficial to the UK than was that ill-fated military adventure.
