Hi All, we are new members to your site our names are Tony & Karon and we have had a place in calis for 7 years we have now decided its time to make the move to Turkey. Can any of you give us your views on the good & the bads of moving lock stock and barrels.  I hope to have many more chats with you all.

Hi, no bad things about living here in Turkey, just wouldn,t thin about bringing anything much from England, seems to cause loads of headaches, sure things will work out well for your move

Search this forum with a fine toothed comb, I've been reading for months now after making a similar decision as you, the best source of local info ever! Good luck, I'm out for 6 months in September to "test the water" but in my heart I'm there for good lol.

Does anyone know if you can buy whirlygig washing lines anywhere?

I haven't seen any, but maybe if Ikea do them, you'd be able to get one either by going to Izmir yourself or ordering through JJs in Fethiye, as they do a weekly collection service to Ikea.

Otherwise, as a lot of people live on complexes, they can't put washing in the communal garden as such, so the most common thing is to have 2 x pieces of ironwork welded to a balcony, which works a treat, with the bonus that when it starts to pour down, you stay relatively dry whilst grabbing all the washing. Cost 2 years ago was either 20 or 30tl + the lines themselves
