Not exactly Lynne - I'm feeling my way through this a little too, but here is how I envisage things going...

Ultimately the plan is to relieve the pressure on a creaking and ageing CBF, and to give Fethiye a forum that reflects it's popularity in a "standalone" format.

What I am thinking to do is to give the local area forums on CBF a month to wind down, while promoting the new ones on the new Fethiye forum, ultimately to close them on CBF but to keep them as read only sections. There will be exceptions (for example the Dolphinarium topic in the Hisaronu forum) that I can move out of the soon to be locked section, perhaps into a new "Live Topics" section so they can carry on. If there are topics that you would like to see survive the lock (because they still have legs) then anyone can let me know which ones and I'll ensure they avoid the lock.

I want to see the forums expand, and this is something that we can do with fethiye.co.uk (and are reluctant to stretch CBF to). The Calis Beach section on CBF has several subforums - general, bars and restaurants, places to stay etc. With the new forum I'd like to see the same for Fethiye, Uzumlu and the rest - they can develop; Uzumlu can have a restaurant subforum or we can expand the Ovacik section to have a "Places to Stay" section and so on forever, if there is enough use to warrant these things. I've resisted adding new forums and subforums to CBF for quite a few years now - it's bulging at the seams and making it even larger isn't practical or useful.

Having a big place like Fethiye bolted onto our forum about little ol' Calis has always felt more than a little awkward to me, and now we have a chance to expand the non-Calis content in a more correct way  :)

OK, thanks, that makes sense :D

When you lock them Keith how about posting a link to the new forum just in case someone has a point to follow up?

Hi Rob

Yes I will do that but a while before they close - I will suggest people start new topics at the new forum (with link provided). People can post replies (and start new topics if they must) right up till they are locked, and that date will be confirmed also.

Nice one Keith, I'm sure it will be just as successful as the CBF. All the best with it Sir.
