We are in Ovacik and have had success with apples, plums, apricots, blackberries and pears. We planted thirteen olive trees and they all grew and the pepper tree is very attractive as well as giving you peppercorns which you can dry in a low heat in the oven. The cherry trees are still young yet so we have not had a crop yet,but the trees look healthy.Fig trees also thrive around here, they grow everywhere.Citrus fruit trees did not take off as I think it may be too cold for them where we are. If you are in a fairly sheltered position you may have luck with them. I have put herbs and tomatoes in pots and they grow but I have to remember to water them in the summer. I find the earth too hard to dig myself, that is why I use pots. :)Our Turkish neighbours grow loads of various green salads and peppers, it takes a strong person to dig the land around here though. It takes a lot of watering for salad to grow as well.
