The little shop at the rear of the "everyday fruit and veg market" has them and so do most of the agricultural supply shops on the Karaculha road.

If you're buying your seeds on EBay, you might find it cheaper and easier to get hold of one from one of the seed suppliers.

We are in Ovacik and have had success with apples,plums,apricots,blackberries and pears.We planted thirteen olive trees and they all grew and the pepper tree is very attractive as well as giving you peppercorns which you can dry in a low heat in the oven. The cherry trees are still young yet so we have not had a crop yet,but the trees look healthy.Fig trees also thrive around here,they grow everywhere.Citrus fruit trees did not take off as I think it may be too cold for them where we are. If you are in a fairly sheltered position you may have luck with them. I have put herbs and tomatoes in pots and they grow but I have to remember to water them in the summer. I find the earth too hard to dig myself,that is why I use pots. :)Our Turkish neighbours grow loads of various green salads and peppers, it takes a strong person to dig the land around here though.It takes a lot of watering for salad to grow as well.

I'm planning to use pots for some herbs too although watering them is a pain I know. Still they will look pretty:-) and smell nice on the terrace.

I have some sweet basil seeds that I have just realised I can grow indoors all year around.

I gave up digging the garden; progress was so slow so Dogan is digging the garden in 3 metre lengths a day at the moment as part of his fight the flabby belly he's developed regime.

My neighbours work very hard for their salad but it is full of flavour.

My neighbours in Ovacik have green and red cabbages in their garden at the moment (the size of a football).They also have leeks,onions,and lettuce which look ready to harvest.We both grow olive trees and have the olives pressed for their oil.The blackberry bushes have finished for the year.Around Ovacik I have noticed lots of the local people are planting olive trees and putting one or two pepper trees in with them.

I have been told that there are also some Turkish people here growing Aloe which is good for its medicinal properties.

There are some really interesting gardens owned by Turkish people here in Ovacik,I love finding out about what they grow.
