Putting Photos on PC

I have a multi card reader to put photos on to my computer. How do I use it? Where do I put the photos?

If I manage to put the photos on to my computer, how do I attatch a photograph to an email.

Thanks for any help you can give me. I am gradually learning how to use my pc!   :)
