Furry/flying things in roof
« on: November 15, 2008, 14:32:57 PM »
When we were at the house in September we noticed that a peculiar flying insect had made its home under our roof tiles, just outside the bedroom patio doors. Description is about 30-40mm in length, body divided into two parts, top part about the size of a one pound coin, brown in colour and had a furry/woolly appearance, bottom part about the size of a ten pence piece, yellow in colour, again furry/woolly appearance, from rear of yellow section what looked like a black stinger!!. Questions 1. What is it? 2.Is it dangerous? 3.If so, how do we get rid of? 4.If we can't is there any company etc. who can? Help, don't like sleeping with doors shut

Probably Hornets.

Just leave them alone and you won't have trouble with wasps.

We had a nest of them in our garden in Koycegiz,  I waited till after sunset (when they all went to bed :D ), then I filled the nest with Expanding Foam, I`ve had no problem with the little bleeders since.
