A friend of mine has a villa in Ovacik that she rents out and is trying to work out on a "worse case scenario" how much it would cost for a 7,000 btu unit to be left on for 24 hours non-stop. Assuming that the doors would also be left open, and therefore the thermostat wouldn't kick-in, has anyone got a clue how much it would cost?

how about checking on her meter how many units it uses for one hour, get the unit price rate from tedas then multiply bye 24!!.either way would certainly knock a big hole in her income...

Turn the Acon off LOL...Isolate it.
Surely a notice saying switch off Acon should suffice, when leaving to go outside.
You can get keys that turn off electric supply also if they lock the doors when going out.
Other than that Stuart (above) is right and demand a deposit though, just in case as an addition.

We had a key card fitted that turms all the power off except the fridge when you leave the apartment and take the key out, cost about £50.00 the builder had it done for us was a good investment.

We have one as well. Great money saver. Keeps the Efes cool as well:P

Can this be done after the build. Currently I have a notice on the inside of the front door asking for the air con to be turned off and to check that guests have thier door keys but a simple 'switch off' device would be better.

Or you could tell them they have to pay for the electric. Get the meter read before and after they leave - your agents could charge them for it.

Elsa, We had an isolation card put into our apartment, it doesn't have to be a new build - it cost £35 and you should get it welded to your keys so guests have to remove it each time they leave the apartment. We've never used ours though as we don't let the apartment. We got it done as everyone else on the complex was and it was cheap so we thought it would be a plus point if we ever sold up.

Somine I only allow family to use our apartment I would hope non of them are daft enought to use bottle tops to make electric connections.
