I've had a Turkish mobile for years on Turkcell (A liittle old fashioned Nokia). If you do want to bring it to the UK make sure "Roaming" is turned on, then you could, in theory, top it up whist in the UK if necessary. I bank with Finansbank and can top it up from their internet banking system. I would assume other banks have a similar facility.
