Car tax
« on: January 05, 2015, 22:00:44 PM »
Can anybody tell what I'm missing.
I went into the bank today to tax the car and this time was only charged 295.50 tl .
We've had the car for nearly a year in February and when we got it we obviously paid the tax and insurance, also in July I re-taxed it and was charged the usual  as I thought 429.50 tl.
Can anyone tell me why there is now a difference in the cost or am I just a numpty.

How old is the car?  The price drops as the car gets older.

Yes thanks for that GordonA that is indeed very useful but now i am even more confused lol
The car is 5 years old now and has 1.5 diesel engine and is classed as a panel van being a Logan and is M O T ed every year so is basically commercial although it has seats and is not a van at all, none of the amounts listed are double what i paid today indeed what i paid is a lot less.
So i'm at a loss to know if 1 i've paid the correct amount and 2 what or where I should go and do to find out.
I asked the girl in the bank if i could tax my car and she told how much , so who's at fault me or her ?
Am I breaking the law by not having not taxed it taxed properly if its not ?

Just to help.  The rates shown are for one year, and as the Car Tax is often paid twice a year in January and July, then you may have been charged half the rates shown on the chart, in which case you have bought 6 months road tax and will have to retax in July.

Yes thanks for that but if I double what i've already paaid it still doesn't come up the amount that according to the website i should be paying.
So really i'm still none the wiser.

Does what you have just paid include any fines that you may have accumulated since you last paid tax ?

As far as i am aware there were no fines or anything outstanding and if there was it would of made the amount more not less.
Seems a strange one .
